Lisa Kelly. That name, once you get to know the person behind it, rings in the ears day and night. Her music is, for lack of a better description, inspirational. Her personality is enchanting, and I know this without even experiencing a firsthand conversation with her. I write now for the purpose of describing the former, something I have indeed experienced, and the very reason I am able to speak of her today.

Lisa’s voice, when it comes to style, is classical, theatric, and it oozes honey. The sweet tone she embeds her songs with makes one feel like you are at home, like Lisa knows you personally, like she is singing for you. Then again, she says herself that she will send us a song.

Her individual songs have personalities of their own. Her solo CD, containing eleven songs, is stunning (although, for my preference, just a tad short!). Siúil A Run, the first of the songs, is delightfully enunciated, modern, and decidedly her own. The tales this girl can tell in Gaelic! The next song, Carrickfergus, is a wonderful soprano tune sung in that honey-tone only Lisa can produce. Lift the Wings, a song from her Riverdance days, is a perfect portrayal of Lisa’s personality. The lyrics are sweet, uplifting, and benevolent, much like the lady herself. The Soft Goodbye is a song that has grown very near to me. The lyrics and patterns are everything a person could want from a song, technically and emotionally. It erupts into its climax with rain coming over the gray hills as we hear a soft goodbye, and you can just feel the magic. Dubhdarra is a simple, lovely, lilting tale….and boy, if Lisa was true to the lyrics and sailed far out to sea, I’d call for her to come back! Home and the Heartland, yet another wonderful tune from her time with Riverdance, really does make you feel right at home. Lisa’s soaring, sweet soprano carries you right to your home! Though the lyrics say to sing out our songs, I think I’ll let Lisa stick to the singing, and listen for as long as possible. May It Be is a phenomenal song for Lisa, taking advantage of both her lower register and her upper, and though it goes virtually all over the musical scale, she sings it with such grace and ease, you wouldn’t know she was trying at all! In fact, I’m not too sure if she’s trying….there’s not much she can’t sing! The lyrics are touching and hopeful, placing a promise in each of our hearts, a promise that is easily accepted by all, because who could say no to Lisa? Now, here’s a really amazing song…..Homecoming. When I discovered this song, I listened to it about ten times in a row, if not more! She ends the song with a series of notes that just leaves you as a puddle! I’m telling you, this girl is amazing, and she truly sings from the heart. The Deer’s Cry is an amazing uplifting song. It really lets you know where this girl comes from, and who we should thank for Lisa’s talent! And words can barely describe the next tune….Send Me a Song. This has got to be one of Lisa’s best songs with Celtic Woman. I tell you, if I have to send Lisa a song so she’ll send me one, I certainly will! This song is enchanting, and let’s hope she is blessed and can continue sending songs for a long time. Now We Are Free, the last song on the CD, is amazing, though I do not believe it is any particular language. Perhaps it is the beautifully complex yet simple language of emotion. Before Lisa, I’m not sure I truly knew you could convey emotion verbally, yet without words. I am constantly amazed by her ability to do so.

Well, there you have it, folks. Lisa’s CD. I hope you will all enjoy it as much as I have, and let’s hope that many more tales are to be spun through Lisa’s vocal chords for a long time. God Bless!
